Unveiling a Unusual Steam Demo: Playing as a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have encountered numerous entertaining indie games. But, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game features a hero that is literally a piece of poop attempting to navigate to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: you only need a one button to leap. Throughout 150 stages, you'll face mini-bosses and visit a shop to purchase outfits for your poop character.

Execute your movements precisely, since one mistake forces starting over. Jump off bubbles to hurl yourself to new heights, cross crumbling platforms, and activate buttons to reveal new areas. Gather coins and use them on challenging levels as things gets crazy.

In terms of design, the experience boasts neon environments and an amazing soundtrack. The simple visual style with morphing abstract forms evokes memories of gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to recall other games where you play as a piece of feces, interactive entertainment frequently featured scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can create explosives from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, fecal references appears extensively in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its silly concept, Unko Technica has already received significant recognition, like winning at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. The demo is available now on Steam, with the final release scheduled to launch on computers this November.
